As of 5:30 p.m. on Monday August 18, the Wakefield Farmers Market was #1 in Massachusetts and #21 in the nation. This with just 61 pledges. The top market in the nation has just 780 pledges.
More folks across the country need to be participating in this contest and also learning about and supporting the excellent work done by American Farmland Trust.
Please share this and encourage all your friends to make a weekly “pledge” to spend money at THEIR favorite farmers market, wherever in the USA it may be.
BUT, for WFM fans, we have 539 folks on our email newsletter list and close to 1100 Facebook Likes. And only 51 pledges…Hmmmm…. 🙂
RIGHT NOW, go to http://lovemyfarmersmarket.org
and make a pledge to spend money at WFM! And do it once a week until September 13. If you want a reminder to vote each week, sign up for the newsletter using the form to the right on this website and select Vote Reminder List or, if you already get the email newsletter, click HERE and follow the instructions to update your subscription preferences and then select “Vote Reminder List.” How easy is that? 🙂

This is the sixth year in a row for American Farmland Trust’s I Love My Farmers Market Celebration, a summer-long event that recognizes family farmers and raises awareness about community markets. American Farmland Trust asks farmers market supporters nationwide to go online each week to pledge the amount of money they will spend at that week’s market.
The 2014 contest ends at midnight on September 13.
