The Pop Up Library and Kittredge Candles are back, our musician guest is Julie Doherty, and folks from Friends of Lake Quannapowitt and Sustainable Wakefield will be with us, too. The Wakefield Farmers Market is bringing local farm fare, specialty foods, and artisan products to Hall Park (next to Veterans Field, GPS 468 North Ave Wakefield MA) each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through October 13, 2018.
Featuring live music, a balloon magician, and cooking demos most weeks, and a Kid’s Activity Tent stocked with drawing materials, plus hula hoops, jump ropes, and sidewalk chalk, and special events throughout the season, it’s a great place to shop, have a picnic, play, or just hang out on the shore of Lake Quannapowitt.
Julie Dougherty has been singing and performing for over 40 years and, while she has scaled back from full-time, she is still writing many of her own tunes. From opening multiple times for the Kingston Trio to writing for and performing in a funk band, as well as plenty of touring playing Irish, folk-rock, and country-rock music, your guess is as good as mine as to what type or types of music she will be sharing this Saturday, but after listening to some tracks on her website, (juliedougherty.net) I know we will all really enjoy Julie’s first visit to our market. The Wakefield Farmers Market Music Program is sponsored by The Savings Bank.
Suman Shah will be in the Market Kitchen Tent creating and sharing tasty and nutritious recipes from produce she gets at the market that morning. You will find links to her recipes at wfmmarketkitchen.site. Our Market Kitchen Tent and Farm/Food Education sponsor is the Wakefield Cooperative Bank.
