We are sad we had to cancel the February market due to the storm and snow, but we are really looking forward to our next market day on Sunday March 15 from noon to 4:00 p.m.
And, the heck with the Ides of March! March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day!
On March 15 1962, President John F Kennedy gave an address to the US congress in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so, and the consumer movement now marks March 15 every year as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights.
An international organization, CI has three affiliate member organizations in the United States: American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI), Consumer Reports (previously Consumers Union), and Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT).
FACT has two programs areas, Food Safety and Humane Farming, with the latter including its Fund-A-Farmer Project that gives grants to farmers who use or want to move to pasture-raised farming.
Take a moment to learn more about all these programs, and check back here for updates as we get closer to our next market date.
See you at the market!
