The Wakefield Farmers Market team is just about ready for the summer season that begins on Saturday June 15 at its Hall Park location on the shores of Lake Quannapowitt. The market takes place each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., this year from June 15 through October 12, 2019. To give directions to a friend, just tell them to use 468 North Ave via GPS.
Wakefield Farmers Market will have an information tent at the Festival by the Lake being held on June 8 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the Lower Common. While we won’t have farmers or veggies on hand, we will have the latest news.
In what has become an annual tradition, all are welcome to enter a free drawing for $20 in Market Bucks that you can use anytime during the season. You can also sign up for our online newsletter and, also, learn how to become part of our great WFM Volunteer Team.
Stop by, say hello to our new Market Manager AnnMarie Gallivan, and new Market Day Coordinator Karen Beasley and give a thank you to our outgoing Manager Wendy Dennis.
A Note from AnnMarie: Over the past 8 years, Wendy has been a dedicated volunteer and Market Manager, bringing her commitment to bringing local farmers and community together. Her passion for the market is evident in the vibrant market community she has helped create. Wendy will be continuing as a WFM Committee member and as the Food and Farm Education Coordinator for our market. You might just see her doing a cooking demo or two this season. Hope to see you at the Festival!
We will again have cooking demos most if not every week in the Market Kitchen Tent with a rotating assortment of chefs from our local food service businesses. More about that as we get this new program in place. A big thank you to the Wakefield Cooperative Bank, our Market Kitchen Tent and Farm/Food Education sponsor!
Thanks also to The Savings Bank, who is once again sponsoring our music program. We will have live music most if not every week starting with local (and super talented) musician Tim Foley on Opening Day. Other musicians lined up include Amy Spillert, Patiño Vazquez, Eddie Dee, Gentle Temper, Julie Doherty, Betty’s Bounce, and Willie T & Doctor X, Birchwood Blaze, and not until September, our former opening day stars, students from Onset School of Music.
