We have been #1 or #2 in Massachusetts and in the top 30 Nationwide since 2012!

[It was a great market day, albeit the heat. Click HERE for some pics of the day.]

The variety will seem endless with 21 of our 23 farm or food vendors and 5 artisan vendors at our market this week! The Wakefield Farmers Market takes place at Hall Park, on the shores of Lake Quannapowitt, each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from June 18 through October 15, 2016.

For live music, we are excited to have the Los Sugar Kings Duo, featuring Patino Vazquez and Dan Abreu, the latter a resident of Wakefield. The two are part of Los Sugar Kings, a Boston-based Cuban Roots, Rock & Reggae Fusion quartet who write, record, and perform across the North-East United States and are 2015 New England Music Award Winners. They wowed the crowd when they played for us last year; you don’t want to miss them! Music will start around 10:00 a.m.

Our nonprofit guest this week will be the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry (WIFP), represented by the good folks from local CPA firm Tonneson + Co as they publicize the Annual 5K Run/Walk around Lake Quannapowitt that they put on each year to benefit WIFP. The run will take place on Sunday July 24, 2016. Do to stop by to learn about the event, and sign up to run, walk, or be a sponsor.

With so much going on and so many vendors, the Market Kitchen will take a low-key approach this week. After seeing how many folks enjoyed trying a slice of raw beet and different greens last week, we will build on that and simply slice or chop up some less common, or less commonly eaten raw veggies into bite size portions so anyone so moved can try a bite. If you see something at one of our farmers’ tents that you want to try but don’t see it at the kitchen tent, let us know and we will get you some to sample!

NEWSFLASH: On The Edge Knife Sharpening will be here THIS WEEK!

Yarrow or Blake should be with us this week bringing their super balloon twisting skills, we will have the Kid’s Activity tent set up and stocked with plenty of paper and crayons. There will be hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and jump ropes on hand for kids of all ages, and we will also have an extra tent and tables set up so folks can take a break from shopping in a bit of shade.

And, before we go on, don’t forget:
Volunteers ALWAYS welcome and needed!
You can sign up here for spots and tasks throughout the entire season.

As of Friday noon we are looking good, although someone to train as the market bucks counter and another breakdown person would be great!
Potential volunteers are always welcome to “shadow” a volunteer doing a task you are interested in learning how to do before you sign up for a market day volunteer spot.
