Gentle Temper will be back at our market on September 1 playing from 10:00 a.m. to noon. A duo featuring Marion Earley and Ryan Meier, their live sound builds on a sturdy foundation of lyrical storytelling, animated harmonies, and instrumental development. Just last month they won The MAIN EVENT – Lizard Lounge Open Mic Challenge and they are in the process of releasing their debut full length album, “Our Warm Red Light.

We are 90% sure Black Earth Composting will be here this week. In any case, check them out at blackearthcompost.com. They now offer their compost pick-up service in Wakefield.
We’ll have balloon twisting and face painting with Yarrow and friend, and will also have hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and jump ropes on hand for kids of all ages, and the Kid’s Activity tent will be set up and stocked with plenty of paper and crayons.

Produce: So many kinds of melons, eggplant, peppers, summer squashes, and tomatoes – never mind all the berries and stone fruits! Corn and beans are also with us, as well all kinds of salad greens (and Asian greens and melons from Flats) and veggies, plus freshly picked apples and more. Check out all the goods at Charlton Orchards, Flat’s Mentor Farm, Kelly’s Farm and Farmer Dave’s. Farmer Dave’s also carries locally grown and dried Baer’s Beans – the freshest dried legumes around.
Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Lilac Hedge Farm will have all you need for locally raised meats, poultry, and eggs, along with their honey. They have duck and lamb, along with chicken, beef, and pork, as well tasty jerky type products and their own honey. You really should follow them on Facebook! As I write this, their header “picture is a video showing animals being fed and work being done on the farm. Very cool.
Cheese: Turns about West River Creamery is able to be here this with their amazing cheeses – check the specials section of our website to see if she will have her Mozzarella cheese or cultured butter this week. But this time you really need to stock up because she won’t be back again until 9/15.
Seafood: Roberto’s Seafood has the best catch and the best price. Check them out – always fresh, always local. And always great for grilling on a holiday weekend!
Specialty Foods: Deano’s Pasta (with tasty sauce, too) and Habibi Gourmet Food, with the very best Mediterranean foods, will be here. Plus Farmer Dave’s has super marina and hot sauces and more made from their produce in their farm kitchen.
Baked Goods: Goodies Homemade (the BEST Cookies, scones, and more), Swiss Bakers breads, sweet treats, and super sandwiches – and pretzel rolls!) and The Bread Shop (an assortment of artisan loaves and more), are here, as is Roasted Granola, with hands down the best granola, and locally made yogurt, as well. And, Farmer Dave’s might have cider donuts again.
Beverages: Pony Shack Cider will be here with their fabulous hard ciders. They really have an excellent product. Always crisp but never to sweet or fizzy. Pour Man’s Coffee will have their amazing ice coffee and other refreshing beverages, plus tasty treats to enjoy at the market. They also sell Fair Trade coffee beans from Dean’s Beans to take home.
Pet Treats: Stop by Emmett’s Edibles to get some healthy treats for your dogs, and cats, too. You furry friends will love you for it.
Artisans: Kittredge Candles is here, as is B U By Rumi with lovely jewelry, and Sheepshed, who had to cancel last week, will be here with hand-spun yarns (Donna often spins at the market!) and more, plus A&D Books, with their books about our Lake Quannapowitt, as well as Breakhart Reservation and Middlesex Fells, the latter an award-winning publication.
