Students from Onset School of Music will be here for their annual recital, Pony Shack Cider and In Good Taste are here for their first visits of the season, and there will be plenty of freshly picked produce, that’s for sure. The Wakefield Farmers Market takes place at Hall Park (next to Veterans Field, GPS 468 North Ave Wakefield MA) each Saturday through October 13, 2018.

Students from Onset School of Music will provide great music this Saturday. Brian Conlon, Jack Conlon, Jesse Delaurier, Paige Martino, and Isabella will be here for this annual event that is always inspiring and entertaining. Suman Shah of will be in the Market Kitchen Tent creating and sharing tasty and nutritious recipes from produce she gets at the market that morning. Last week she made a wonderful gazpacho, a good choice for such a hot day – no cooking needed! The Wakefield Human Rights Commission will be here; be sure to stop by to learn about the many upcoming and annual programs they have developed to support their mission of promoting the civil and human rights of all people in Wakefield, with the goal of reinforcing positive relationships in the community and to create educational programs to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for diversity. It is important work.

The Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry (WIFP) will represented today by the good folks from local CPA firm Tonneson + Co as they publicize the 6th Annual 5K Run/Walk around Lake Quannapowitt that they put on each year to benefit WIFP. The run will take place on Saturday July 14. Do be sure to stop by to learn about the event, and sign up to run, walk, or be a sponsor.

Yarrow will be here working his magic with balloons, and Kayla our Henna Tattoo artist will be here as well. We will of course also have hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and jump ropes on hand for kids of all ages, and the Kid’s Activity tent will be set up and stocked with plenty of paper, crayons.

Produce: Flats Mentor Farm will have their lovely Asian greens and more, Patty and Nate of Charlton Orchards will be back with whatever berries are pickable and MAYBE some early plums. Farmer Dave’s and Kelly’s Farm will have even more wonderful in-season, just picked produce, Be sure to stop by to see what’s newly coming into season! Farmer Dave’s also has potatoes and apples that they know how to store from last fall.

Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Lilac Hedge Farm will have all you need for locally raised meats, poultry, and eggs, along with their honey. They also have tasty jerky type products, as well, perfect for a quick snack. GRILLING TIP: Due to regulations, most farms that raise animals  for food must have their animals processed at a USDA-approved slaughter house and then frozen for direct sale to consumers. The good news is that, if you buy a frozen steak, you can just pop it right on the grill or keep it frozen until you are ready to cook. You’ll find the instructions at .

Seafood: Robert’s Seafood has the best catch and the best price. We are glad to have them with us!

NEWSFLASH:  NO CHEESE this week. Jane and West River Creamery will be back on 7/14.

Specialty Foods: Specialty Foods: Deano’s Pasta (with sauce, too) Habibi Gourmet Food, with the best Mediterranean foods, and In Good Taste (super salsa!) are here plus Farmer Dave’s has marina and hot sauces and more made from their produce in their farm kitchen.

Baked Goods: Goodies Homemade (the BEST Cookies and more), Swiss Bakers (super sandwiches) The Bread Shop (lovely artisan loaves and more), and Roasted Granola, which also offers locally made yogurt for a great breakfast match. Plus, Farmer Dave’s will have Farmer Jane’s amazing strawberry and other types of sweet breads and crisps using fruits from their farm.

Beverages: Pony Shack Cider is back!!  You need to try their ciders. Not too bubbly, not too sweet, perfectly crisp and a great assortment of unique flavors, with any fruits for flavors procured from local farmers.  Pour Man’s Coffee will, as always, be here the BEST ice coffee and other beverages, plus treats to enjoy at the market. They also sell Trade coffee beans from Dean’s Beans to take home.

Pet Treats: Emmett’s Edibles is here with healthy treats for your dogs, and cats, too – made with love, of course.

Artisans: Greg Hiller of Wakefield is here with gorgeous handcrafted jewelry from Hiller’s Silver Studio, and Sarah’s Originals is here with aprons, hot pads, placemats, totes, and more. We are also expecting Alison Simcox and Doug Heath will also be here with their books about Lake Quannapowitt, Breakheart, and recent award winner The Fellsway.
