​Kittredge Candles and Trows Treasures are here, we’ll have music by Eddie Dee, and, big news: Flats Mentor Farm will be here this Saturday and for the rest of the season! Plus, all the freshly picked produce and more, of course. The Wakefield Farmers Market takes place at Hall Park (next to Veterans Field, GPS 468 North Ave Wakefield MA) each Saturday through October 13, 2018.

Local musician Eddie Dee, man of many songs is our musician guest this week. Eddie has been playing out for years and is also one of the key sound people at Linden Tree Coffeehouse. His smooth voice and wide repertoire folksy tunes and more are a perfect fit for a farmers market, whether you are shopping or want to sit to listen for a spell.  Music will start around 10:00 a.m. The Wakefield Farmers Market Music Program is sponsored by

​Suman Shah of will be in the Market Kitchen Tent creating and sharing tasty and nutritious recipes from produce she gets at the market that morning. Last week she made a a quick and easy veggie slaw featuring fresh yellow summer squash and strawberries paired with pickled red onions and dark ale mustard, the latter two available from Jane of West River Creamery. NEWSFLASH: Our henna tattoo artist Kayla Russell will be at the market this week! She proved to be quite popular during her first visit on opening day. Look for her in the section near the Kid’s Activity Tent.

It was great to see Yarrow, our magical and trusty balloon twisting artist, during his first visit to our market last Saturday and we expect him this week an most weeks this season. We will of course also have hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, and jump ropes on hand for kids of all ages, and the Kid’s Activity tent will be set up and stocked with plenty of paper, crayons.

Produce: Flats Mentor Farm will have lovely Asian greens including boc choi, pea tendrils, chi sin, mustard greens, water spinach, and more! Patty and Nate of Charlton Orchards will be back with strawberries, rhubarb, and I think still some cherries again. Farmer Dave’s and Kelly’s Farm will have even more wonderful in-season, just picked produce, with greens, radishes and berries just some of the bounty And don’t forget tomatoes and basil! Be sure to stop by to see what’s newly coming into season!

Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Pasture-raised Meats, Poultry, and Eggs: Lilac Hedge Farm will have all you need for locally raised meats, poultry, and eggs, along with their honey. They also have tasty jerky type products, as well, perfect for a quick snack. GRILLING TIP: Due to regulations, most farms that raise animals  for food must have their animals processed at a USDA-approved slaughter house and then frozen for direct sale to consumers. The good news is that, if you buy a frozen steak, you can just pop it right on the grill or keep it frozen until you are ready to cook. You’ll find the instructions at .

Cheese: West River Creamery STOCK UP THIS WEEK ON CHEESE, Mustards, and Pickled Veggies!  Jane will be here this week but will be taking the July 7 weekend off, so stock up this week! She will be back on July 14.

NEWSFLASH:  In case you missed the news, we have a new fish vendor! Please welcome Roberto’s Seafood back for their second market day and here for the season. Roberto’s has been the beloved fish vendor at the Melrose Farmers Market for a number of years. Some of you may have shopped with Roberto’s we were doing the winter markets with the Melrose Farmers Market. They offer a great product at a great price, and they are all really nice people, too. We are pleased to have them join WFM.

Specialty Foods: Coutt’s Specialty Foods, Deano’s Pasta (with sauce, too) Habibi Gourmet Food, with the best Mediterranean foods, and Farmer Dave’s has marina and hot sauces and more made from their produce in their farm kitchen.

Baked Goods: Goodies Homemade (the BEST Cookies), Swiss Bakers (pretzel rolls!) The Bread Shop (lovely artisan loaves and more), and Roasted Granola, which also offers locally made yogurt for a great breakfast match. Plus, Farmer Dave’s will have Farmer Jane’s amazing strawberry and other types of sweet breads and crisps using fruits from their farm.

Beverages: Aaronap Cellars is here for another visit, so if you missed them last week, they are back again with their fabulous wines. Their new blush wine is fantastic! Tower Craft Beverages will be here for their biweekly visit, and, as always, Pour Man’s Coffee will be here the BEST ice coffee and other beverages, plus treats to enjoy at the market. They also sell Trade coffee beans from Dean’s Beans to take home.

Pet Treats: Emmett’s Edibles is here with healthy treats for your dogs, and cats, too – stop by to say hello. Thirsty dogs will be happy to see a bowl of water out just for them.  

Artisans: Kittredge Candles will be here with their lovely candles and soaps, Sarah’s Originals with aprons, place mats, cloth books for kids and more, and Trow’s Treasures, with wonderful handcrafted herbal products.

Sneak Peak:  Next week, we are expecting Onset School of Music will be here to do a recital of their talented students!  We missed them last year when they got rained out and are glad to have them back again. Also on 7/7, we welcome the Wakefield Human Rights Commission and Tonneson+Co promoting the annual road race they organization to raise fund for the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry.
